DESCRIPTION:Commemorating the day in 1865 when slaves in Texas learned of the Emancipation Proclamation\, two-and-a-half years after the fact. \n\n\n\nFestivities officially kick off at noon with a parade on Tuscaloosa Avenue\, beginning on the east side at the Goodyear Warehouse and ending at the Carver Community Center.\n\n\n\nMusic and entertainment starts at 1:00 PM\, with gospel\, hip-hop and R&B. The Spiritual-Aires\, the Joyful-Aires and Loretta Jones are all scheduled to perform. There will also be vendors including: jewelry\, craft\, clothing and food.
