SUMMARY:Neely Henry Lake Association Meeting
DESCRIPTION:A meeting of the Neely Henry Lake Association will be held at 6:30 P.M. Thursday\, March 1st 2018 at the Rainbow City Community Center\, 3702 Rainbow Drive. This meeting will include information provided by Hugh Stump (Executive Director of Greater Gadsden Area Tourism) involving the status of the Neely Henry Lake "Economic Impact Study" that is scheduled to begin during April of this year.\n\n\n\nA study of this type objectively illustrates the importance of the lake to the people\, counties\, communities and businesses that are impacted by Neely Henry Lake. It can also support/justify important lake protection/improvement projects and impact property values etc. The Neely Henry Lake Association is a co-sponsor of this study and Hugh will highlight the role of the NHLA to assist in the completion of the study. (The "Economic Impact Study" is tentatively scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2018 and will be conducted by Jacksonville State University and the University of Alabama).\n\n\n\nIn addition to Hugh's presentation\, Shane Ellison (Administrative Assistant to the Mayor of Gadsden) will discuss river related improvement projects located near Gadsden Landing. This will include detailed information about "The Venue" project located at the sight of the former K-Mart building. As many of you know\, this project is now under construction.\n\n\n\nAt the conclusion of these presentations there will be updates on several  important Neely Henry Lake Association projects and issues. The following will be covered:\n\n	Fish Habitat Project: The NHLA will work with Alabama Power Company and the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to place fish habitat in Neely Henry Lake. The project is scheduled for the days of March 19th and 26th. (The habitat is scheduled to be built on the 19th and deployed on the 26th)\n	Memorial Weekend (May 26th) NHLA boat recreational event and associated picnic at Greensport Marina\n	Neely Henry Lake navigation markers update\n	Status/Schedule and other information involving the approved 2018 Neely Henry Lake "maintenance drawdown"\n	"Water Wars" update\n	Introduction of new NHLA board members\n\nThere will be refreshments and door prizes. As always\, the public is encouraged to attend.
