Admission is free and open to all.\n\n\n\nAbout the art:\n\nAli Hval's interdisciplinary ceramic\, rhinestone\, and fabric pieces are an unconventional marriage between jewelry parts\, bodily forms\, objects of pleasure\, and high fashion.\n\n\n\nThey embrace\, highlight\, and empower sensuality and femininity rather than hiding or denying it and acknowledging the awkwardness\, humor\, and performance that can come with it.\n\n\n\nThe work is a balancing act: one between the sensuality of forms and the innocence and playfulness of the materials she uses: sparkling rhinestones\, oversized plastic gems\, feathery pom-poms\, sumptuous fabrics\, glossy vinyl\, and liquid latex.\n\n\n\nThe forms Hval uses reflect an interest in adornment and the relentless critique and politicization of the body: they imply bodies\, brooches\, earrings\, and nipple tassels\, among other adornments. The pieces in this show carefully tread this line\, each "twice pierced" onto the wall.
