SUMMARY:Yellow Dot Program symposium at GSCC
DESCRIPTION:As a part of National Community College Month\, Gadsden State Community College is hosting a symposium for the community\, students\, faculty and staff to "Make the Connection with Safety" from 9 to 10 A.M. April 19 at the One Stop Center on the East Broad Campus.\n\n \n\nThe symposium is free and being sponsored by the Gadsden State Office of Safety & Security in conjunction with the Etowah County Sheriff's Office.\n\n \n\nThe April 19 symposium will feature information on the Yellow Dot Program\, which is designed to assist Alabama citizens and first responders in the event of an automobile crash or other medical emergency involving the participant's vehicle.\n\n \n\nThe "Yellow Dot" program is a free service provided to individuals of all ages\, with an emphasis on senior citizens. The program can help save lives during the critical "golden hour" by improving communication at a time when accident victims may be unable to communicate for themselves. \n\n \n\nParticipants of the program receive a "Yellow Dot" decal\, a "Yellow Dot" folder and an information form with the participant's name\, an identifying photo\, emergency contact information\, personal physicians' information\, medical conditions\, recent surgeries\, allergies and medications being used. A "Yellow Dot" decal on the driver's side rear window of a vehicle alerts first responders to check in the glove compartment for the corresponding "Yellow Dot" folder. \n\n \n\nFor more information about these events contact Tim Heard\, Gadsden State security officer\, at 256-312-1918 or theard@gadsdenstate.edu.
