SUMMARY:YMCA of the Coosa Valley Parkinson's Support Program
DESCRIPTION:Living with Parkinson's disease can be overwhelming and\, by its very nature\, unpredictable. Each day may be different from the last\, and some days are simply better than others.\n\n\n\nWe understand that living with Parkinson's not only affects the individual\, but also those who love them\, so we combined an exercise program designed for those living with Parkinson's\, along with a support group for family members\, caretakers and friends. Our Westside Family Y's Parkinson's Learning Lifelong Useful Skills program (P.L.L.U.S.) brings together those in similar circumstances\, offering families and individuals a chance to learn from each other's experiences and share tips for dealing with Parkinson's disease.\n\n\n\n"My husband is having more difficulty balancing every day. It's a gradual progression\, but we can see it. Just being with others who are living with the same issues is tremendously comforting as we share and learn together."\n\nThe P.L.L.U.S. group exercise class meets every Monday\, Wednesday and Friday from 11:15 am to 12:15 pm\, and the support group meets immediately after the third Friday class of each month. The topics for the support group change each week and the group meets for 45 minutes.\n\n\n\nTo get involved or learn more about this program\, reach out to our team at the Westside Family Y at (310) 477-1511.\n\n\n\nHelping to plan and manage daily living with Parkinson's.
