  • *Art-Painting with Acrylics   Instructor: Sharon Dasinger
Sharon Dasinger will once again instruct a class on painting with acrylics. Bring your own supplies. The following items are available for purchased at Hobby Lobby: a small size canvas (any size you prefer, for example: 5”x7”) $7-8; round and flat brushes, $3-4; acrylic paints, basic colors $10; easel, if you have one; small container for water.
  • Basics of Microsoft Excel with Your Laptop  Instructor: Bob Blount
This is a beginner’s basic class for individuals who want to learn Microsoft Excel.  You will need to bring your own computer with Microsoft Excel already installed.
  • ***Beginning/Intermediate Chess-Gadsden Public Library  (Monday, Tuesday & Thursday) Instructor: Mark Peilen
This class is at the Gadsden Public Library with Mark Peilen.  There is no cost and everything you need will be provided.  The classes will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 5:15 pm to 7:00 pm.
  • *Beginning Sewing with Your Sewing Machine   Instructor: Valerie Keelin
This class is for beginning sewers, high school girls or ladies needing to learn to sew.  Basic sewing machine operations.  Will be making a tote bag with individuals proving the materials. You will receive an email before class begins with list of items you will need to provide.
  • **Calligraphy for BeginnersInstructor:  Robin Wilson ($20.00 Supply Fee)
This class requires a fee of $20.00 to cover the cost of supplies which will be provided to beginners for your own beautiful lettering.
  • Care-giving from the Heart  Instructors: Virginia, Jana & Neita Taylor
This will be a discussion based class on the needs for someone who needs care and what the caregiver can do to help each individual persons they are helping. 
  • Caring for your Jewelry, Appraisal and Insurance (Monday and Tuesday)   Instructor Benny McNair
Benny McNair will teach  about caring for your jewelry along with appraisals and insurance.  
  • Flower Arranging from Start to Finish  Instructors:  June Styles and Benny Campbell
Attalla Florist Benny Campbell and June Styles will show how to arrange live flowers into beautiful arrangements. 
  • Kids Creative Class-Art and Music for Kindergarten through 5th Grades  Instructors:   Carrie Jones and Kelly Carr
This is a class that encourages creativity through exploring various art mediums and music styles.
  • Kids Exercise Class-Born to Move for Kindergarten through 5th Grades  Instructors:  Brittany Meigos and Claire Hedgspeth
A class that encourages healthy habits and choices for children through fun exercises and activities.
  • Let's Have a Tea Party--Class size limited to 10 girls, ages 6 to 10 years.  (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)  Instructors: Peggy Casey and Judy Tillman  This is a special celebration for girls 6-10 years of age.  Learn table manners and bring a hat to decorate. Peggy Casey and Judy Tillman will teach young ladies how to be Southern Bells.
  • Murray's Modern Cooking Class (featuring Instapot  & Airfryer)  Instructor:  Harriet Murray
This class will teach cooking basics with some updates that include using an Instapot and Air Fryer.
  • Southern Herbal Remedies  Instructor:  Darryl Patton
Renowned teacher/lecturer, Darryl Patton will once again enlighten us with his vast knowledge of his skills about plants and the medicinal  uses of herbs.
  • Tracing the Origin of the Hymn, Instructor: J.T. Harrell
J. T. Harrell, our choir director, will discuss the origin of the hymn from the beginning and through the twenty-first century.
  • Using your iPhone or Android Cell Phone   Instructors: GFUMC Youth
You will learn the basics of using an iPhone or android cell phone.
  • Wills, Powers of Attorney & Medical Directives  Instructor:  Whit Torbert
Whit Torbert, a Gadsden attorney, will discuss wills, powers of attorney and medical directives and what you need to know regarding legal matters.
  • Yoga with Jane (Tuesday)Instructor Jane Patton
Jane will teach a gentle flow yoga class.

Session 2:  7:45 pm to 9:00 pm
  • Ballroom Dancing   Instructors:  Alan & Ginger Ross
Alan and Ginger Ross will teach a dance class for couples who would like to learn how to dance. This is a fun filled class.
  • Mindfulness Meditation  Instructor: Bill Green
This class will teach the practice of mindfulness mediation through awareness that arises through paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmental philosophy of mindfulness, nuts and bolts of mindfulness practices as well as formal and informal mindfulness exercises.
  • Basic Cake Decorating  Instructor: Michelle Cothran and Ann Green
Basic caking decorating for beginners.  Learn about decorating and what tips to use and how to decorate with easy techniques.

Both Sessions:  6:15 pm to 9:00 pm
  • Coffee and Chit Chat about Cars  Instructor:  Stephen Wood
Stephe Wood will have host a discussion about cars, what you don’t know and were afraid to ask! Bring your questions!
  • **Mah-jong Madness  Instructors:  Joanne Hightower & Debbie Hiltz  ($9.00 Supply Fee)
Learn about this ancient Chinese tiles game that is part luck, part skill and all fun. We will learn about the basics as well as provide strategies and pointers for those wanting to improve their playing skills.  Mah Jong is fast becoming the most-played game in the city. Get on board and learn the game.
  • Practical Self Defense for Ages 8 Years through Adults    Instructor: Ray Wise
This class will have various instructors from Combat Survival of Alabama. Using weapons of opportunity. “The ink pen is Mightier.”
