United Way’s Success By 6 continues to promote Early Childhood Learning campaign

United Way of Etowah County’s Success By 6 program kicked off a public engagement campaign called the Born Learning Trail, which is designed to help parents, caregivers, and communities provide young children with early learning opportunities.
The Born Learning campaign is designed specifically to help young children prepare for school. The Born Learning Trail captures 10 fun, outdoor games on engaging signs located throughout the park, located beside Thompson Elementary School. Each sign is different and offers ideas of games and activities parents can do with their children while playing outside. The Trail is a community change strategy, helping to boost children’s language and literacy skills, encouraging families to get active.
“It is a great way for parents to promote early learning opportunities with their children at a price anyone can afford- FREE!” Success By 6 program Director, Emily Sims states. “Our goal is for parents to take advantage of the trail by using it and creating learning opportunities with their children, thus ensuring their children are ready for kindergarten. "
United Way partnered with Hindsman-Davis P.C. and Cadence Bank this year on Day of Action to install the second trail in Etowah County. Last year, the first trail was put in place by the United Way's Young Leaders Society at the Rainbow City Park. Both trails offer unique, fun learning experiences for parents and children.
Scott Hindsman commented "The trail will be a huge benefit to young parents who want to help their children learn how to learn. The trail is a step by step process that teaches parents to introduce shapes, colors and how to play with their children. I think it will improve the relationships with their children and the next generation's relationship with the community."
The Born Learning Trail will have its grand opening on July 23th at 9:00 at the park on Goldenrod Avenue. Everyone is invited to attend.
