The Learning Tree, a nonprofit organization, was founded in 1983, to provide educational and residential services for children, ages 2-21, with developmental disabilities, including autism. Today, more than 1000 families are served each year across Alabama. Individualized programs are provided in a nurturing, supportive environment using applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles.
-Operates 4 residential schools year-round for children and adolescents, ages 6-21. The residential programs include typical homes, providing each child with 24-hour care in a setting that is suited to their unique and special needs. Their individualized educational services are provided in a community school located in Birmingham, Jacksonville, Mobile, and Tallassee.
-Established ABA clinics, across the state, Mobile, Birmingham, Anniston, and Montgomery, known as Growing Independence Behavioral Services. These centers offer children the opportunity to receive ABA therapy. The clinics are open year-round, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4 pm.
The Learning Tree’s Little Tree Preschool is an inclusive program providing preschool services for children, ages 2-6. The program focuses on teaching readiness and prerequisite skills for primary school with an emphasis on applied behavior analysis (ABA) strategies. The Little Tree Preschool is a year-round program, operating Monday through Friday, 7:45am - 2:45pm.
