Gadsden State Community College Celebrates Black History Month

GADSDEN, AL  – Gadsden State Community College is proud to honor Black History Month with two events.


On February 10, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., the East Broad Campus will host a Black History Month Celebration in the Science Building Auditorium. The event will feature Jerome McQueen, PE, as the guest speaker. McQueen, a distinguished professional engineer, will share his insights and experiences on leadership and excellence within the engineering field. This event is open to students, faculty, staff, and the community.


The celebration continues February 26, 2025, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the Gadsden Job Corps Center Gymnasium on the Valley Street Campus. This marks the third annual Black History Month Program in partnership with the Gadsden Job Corps Center. This year's program will feature Dr. Quentin J. Lee, Superintendent of Talladega City Schools, as the keynote speaker. Dr. Lee will discuss the National HBCU Week Conference Theme: "Raising the Bar: Where Excellence and Opportunity Meet."  Attendees will also enjoy a performance by the renowned Gadsden State Show Band.

Both events are free and open to the public. Gadsden State encourages all students, faculty, staff, and community members to participate in these celebrations of history, culture, and excellence.
