Gadsden State Health Sciences Division holds 2025 pinning ceremony

GADSDEN,AL- The Gadsden State Community College Health Sciences Division recognized students earning their associate degree in Registered Nursing during a pinning ceremony held May 8 at the Beck Gymnasium on the Wallace Drive Campus. The 43 students will receive the Associate in Applied Science in Registered Nursing during commencement exercises May 13 at Gadsden State Cherokee.
 
“The pinning ceremony for RN graduates is such a special time not only for students and their families but also for the Nursing Program administration, faculty and staff,” said Dr. Cynthia Mullinax, director of the program. “We know these students have persevered through a very rigorous nursing education program. Now, they have what they need to be competent, safe practitioners when they enter the workforce as registered nurses.”

Students presented with awards for achievement during the ceremony included Hope Williams, recipient of the highly-coveted Florence Nightingale Award. Williams was selected by her peers for exhibiting excellence in clinical performance.
 
The Excellence in Academic Achievement Award recognizes the nursing graduate with the highest-grade point average. The recipient was Daniel Brown.
 
Students awarded the Academic Achievement Award for having at least a 3.0 GPA are Peyton Bearden, Yurisnelis Chile, Joy Copland, Mason Cullimore, Nicole Daniels, Halle Davenport, Tiffany Durham, Carrington Maney, Esmeralda Matias, Kellyn Morales, Kristina O’Neal, Crystal Ortiz, Katherine Packer, Rachel Pierce, QuyTeria Scott, Kennedy Steifel, Cynthia Wheeler, Hannah Whiteman, Angelina Whitfield, Hope Williams and Sommer Yates.
 
Eight students were recognized for completing the Registered Nurse Apprenticeship Program, which provides nursing students the ability to earn while participating in on-the-job learning as a student nurse apprentice at a registered apprenticeship employer. Graduating participants are Alexis Causey, Halle Davenport, Crystal Ortiz, Savanna Rios, QuyTeria Scott, Kennedy Stiefel, Angelina Whitfield and Hope Williams.
