Greater Gadsden Area Tourism is once again sponsoring the 18th Annual Super Bass Fishing Tournament at Coosa Landing, but with a big change this year. Greater Gadsden Area Tourism, the title sponsor, has guaranteed the first place prize of $10,000 cash. By partnering with City of Gadsden and Coosa Landing, we are committed to bringing large fishing tournaments to the Greater Gadsden area.
With the help of the Tournament Director Coosa River Team Trail, the annual Super Bass Fishing Tournament takes place the first weekend in April. There will be a mandatory pre-tournament dinner on Friday, April 4th at 5:00 pm at 210 at the Tracks. The rules will be reviewed, and dinner will be provided to all competitors, compliments of Johnson’s Giant Foods. The Anglers will blast off at safe light on Saturday, April 5th for day 1 of the tournament and Sunday April 6th for day 2 of the tournament. Weigh-ins begin at 3:00 pm on both days and are open to the public. Coosa Landing is viewed as an excellent riverfront facility for hosting tournaments, which combines nicely with Gadsden's abundant natural resources for these events.
Manager of Coosa Landing, Julie Tucker states, “This tournament has grown year after year and we are expecting around 200 boats to participate this year, due to the large First Place Guaranteed Payout of $10,000. The anglers love fishing in Gadsden, Alabama not only because of our beautiful rivers and lakes but because of the fellowship of all the people involved.” Tucker also commented that the anglers will be excited about the new items for sale at the Coosa Landing Bait Shop this year, including beer and fuel.
Coosa Landing pairs a riverfront tournament-hosting facility with the area’s natural beauty and resources. “Having the Coosa River running through downtown is a tremendous asset that most other cities don’t have,” said Mayor Craig Ford. “It’s important for recreation, tourism and the local economy because we're drawing fishermen from around the country with these tournaments. “When we showcase the Coosa, we showcase Greater Gadsden,” Ford said. “With this tournament, we are reminding the nation that Gadsden, Alabama, is the place to be if you enjoy quality outdoor recreation. We invite them to bring the family and stay all week.”
To register for the fishing tournament, please call Julie Tucker at Coosa Landing at (256) 549-4677 by April 1st to pay the $170 entry fee.
