Gadsden State to Host “An Evening of Fine Arts” on May 1
Gadsden, AL — Gadsden State Community College’s Division of Fine Arts will host “An Evening of Fine Arts” on Wednesday, May 1, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the Wallace Drive Campus. The free, family-friendly event will feature performances, exhibits and entertainment throughout the evening.
Festivities will take place in the Meadows Building, the newly renovated Black Box Theatre and on the campus Quad.
The evening begins with the Annual Student Art Show and a performance by the Gadsden State Show Choir. Guests will have an opportunity to meet art instructors and learn more about the College’s fine arts offerings.
At 6:30 p.m., Gadsden State theatre students will present a series of one-act plays in the Black Box Theatre. Prospective students interested in the Theatre Program are encouraged to attend and explore participation opportunities.
Food trucks will be available on-site, and guests are invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy an evening of live entertainment under the stars.
The event concludes at 7 p.m. with an outdoor concert on the Quad, featuring the Show Band, A Cappella Choir and Singers. The concert will include a variety of musical genres, from jazz and disco to rock and today’s hits.
Prospective students interested in joining the Show Band, Choir or Singers for the 2025–2026 academic year are encouraged to attend. Auditions are now being scheduled.

Gadsden State Offers CPR and Critical Care Prep Courses Through Continuing Education
Gadsden, AL—Gadsden State Community College’s Continuing Education Department is offering several upcoming non-credit courses designed for personal and professional development. The department includes two divisions: Professional Development, which offers workforce-related training, and Community Education, which provides enrichment programs for youth, adults and seniors.

Gadsden State to host commencement ceremony
Centre, AL – Gadsden State Community College’s Spring Commencement Ceremony will be at 6 p.m. May 13 in the Richard Lindsey Arena at Gadsden State Cherokee. The event will recognize students who completed program requirements following the Spring semester.
Gadsden State to hire students for Summer Work Program
Gadsden State Community College has received funding from the Alabama Department of Human Resources to employ five area students this summer.
The Summer Youth Work Program will include positions in Payroll, Student Services at Valley Street, Adult Education, Precision Machining Technology, and Human Resources.
The program provides support to various departments, assisting with clerical tasks, organization, and general office duties. Responsibilities will vary by department and location but may include administrative support, visitor assistance, inventory management, and event preparation.
The summer work program will end Aug. 31. Students will be paid $12 an hour for 19 hours per week. Eligible participants must be ages 16 to 24 and have a household income that meets the 2024 Federal Poverty Guidelines. which considers gross annual income and the size of the family unit.
An application and signed Eligibility and Affirmation form must be completed for consideration.
