Priority registration opens Oct. 29

Gadsden, Ala.— Gadsden State Community College will have priority registration for the spring semester Oct. 29 for students who have completed 24 or more credit hours. Priority registration allows eligible students to secure their preferred courses before general registration opens Oct. 30. The spring semester begins Jan. 13.

Advisors will be available to assist students during the registration process, ensuring they select the most appropriate courses for their degree or certification program. Students who are undecided about their major can meet with an advisor in the Advising and Retention Center at the One Stop Center on the East Broad Campus or in the Administration Building on the Ayers Campus. These advisors will guide undecided majors through general studies and help them explore potential career pathways. Advisors can also provide students with information on other important steps, including making payments and obtaining books and materials for the upcoming semester.

Andy Green, dean of Student Services, said eligible students should take advantage of priority registration.

“Priority registration is an excellent opportunity for students who have already invested in their education,” he said. “It ensures they get access to the classes they need and at the times that work best for their schedules.”

Green said it is important to register as soon as possible instead of waiting.

“Registering early not only gives students the best chance of getting their preferred course, but it also reduces the stress of last-minute planning,” he said. “Early registration allows students to focus on their current courses and other responsibilities without worrying about course availability closer to the start of the semester.”

He also encourages students to take advantage of the services provided by advisors.

“Gadsden State advisors are committed to helping all students achieve their academic and career goals by providing personalized guidance and support throughout the registration process,” Green said.
