GADSDEN, Ala. – Etowah Chamber is proud to recognize Alabama Cancer Care of Gadsden for expanding its services beyond oncology and hematology to include state-of-the-art Alzheimer’s care and support. This innovative approach positions Gadsden as the first location in Alabama to offer early, highly accurate Alzheimer’s detection with advanced imaging technology.
Alabama Cancer Care of Gadsden is now using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans with Vizamyl, an FDA-approved radiopharmaceutical that binds to beta-amyloid plaques in the brain. These plaques are a hallmark sign of Alzheimer’s disease. By detecting them earlier and more clearly than traditional imaging, clinicians can diagnose Alzheimer’s at an earlier stage, when interventions and planning are most effective. This marks a major advancement for families seeking answers and guidance close to home.
In addition to cutting-edge imaging, Alzheimer’s infusion treatments are now offered at the facility. These treatments are designed to slow disease progression and improve quality of life, giving patients and their loved ones more time and hope.
